Originally purchased as private land by Dr. David Waldo in 1841 and later annexed by Kansas City in 1909, the neighborhood now known as Waldo is a colorful and eclectic part of south Kansas City. Waldo features a vibrant restaurant and bar district, with some of Kansas City’s most unique dining and drinking establishments. Locally owned businesses thrive along the Wornall corridor, and ample greenspaces abound across the local landscape. Center High School is part of the Center School District and is located near the southeastern edge of Waldo. The campuses of the University of Missouri Kansas City and Rockhurst University are a five-minute drive from the northern edge of the neighborhood.

Important thoroughfares such as Wornall Road, Ward Parkway, Gregory, 75^th and 85^th Streets run through Waldo and provide easy access to major commercial districts throughout the Kansas City metro.
