Designed in the early 20th century by J.C. Nichols, Kansas City’s Brookside community includes some of the city’s most convenient and unique shopping areas. Located in the heart of the city, just south of the Country Club Plaza, the neighborhood extends from 50th Street south to Gregory. It is bordered by Ward Parkway on the west and Troost Avenue on the east.

Schools
Parents can choose from over 30 different area schools for young children. Local grade schools and secondary institutions here include Academie Lafayette, St. Peter’s School, St. Teresa’s Academy, The Pembroke Hill School and University Academy. College and university students are also drawn to Brookside. The campus of the University of Missouri Kansas City is located in the neighborhood, and Rockhust University, a local Jesuit institution, is located just east of Brookside.

Originally designed as an upscale oasis in a bustling city, the area retains the charm that many similar locations have lost. Residents here enjoy easy access to transportation thanks to the Kansas City Area Transit Authority (KCATA). Metro buses run to and from Brookside throughout the week.
